You've been asking about it and now it's here. Catch the first installment of my friend and menswear designer, Stiaan Louw's documentary. If you've ever wondered about what he's like in person, here is your chance. Directed by Kyle Lewis, the short contains interviews with those in the know, including models and fellow designers. A real treat! Stiaan, who has been designing for around ten years has been going through a shedding process and this is just the beginning of only wonderful things to come. I, along with South Africa look forward to seeing just what that is! Enjoy.
Louboutin Animal Printed/Studded flats
Bloggers know when something is about to make an impression on the fashion World. We know it because we all want it, and we all want to blog about it (Kevin and OOoOO). Christian Louboutin is no stranger to this blog, and I would proudly like to introduce you to these studded flats which now come in Leopard and Zebra print. Now these are statement shoes! Approach cautiously. Statement shoes, as I've been asked before should be worn with care. Dress your whole outfit down to allow the shoes to do the talking. That's how you end up paying £315+ for a pair of shoes. Of course like most trends, other designers have jumped on that bandwagon too. Including Giacomorelli, whose shoes were spotted by Tommy Ton on the streets at Milan Fashion Week. I have a tough time deciding which ones I like more. photo credits: wwd/Tommyton
Burberry you Stud, you!
While Christopher Bailey is not bowling you over with colours and prints that we have not seen before, what he
doing is keeping the legacy of the brand fresh. Burberry just wouldn't be Burberry without the trench, and frankly I wouldn't want it to be any other way. Keeping to a similar colour palette as last season Bailey introduced a heavy Rocker influence with the use of the Stud trend in many forms. In addition to this, Bailey experiments with mesh tops, transparency and even leather shirts to further define the 2011 Spring/Summer season as a prominent Biker rebelliousness. The point he makes is that the subtlety's of his changes are effective without overpowering or insulting any die-hard Burberry Prorsum fans, all the more pulling Burberry to the modern age.And of course, finally Burberry releases a Gum-boot for their mens range. Which in our current climate would be perfect! So you know...

Stylescoop Article: The myth of the Man-Bag
Do you know this man? Are you this man? The poor sap forced to carry his girlfriends handbag. Or perhaps you are the inflicting party, that vicious, cruel girlfriend, who despite needing all three moisturisers, a first -aid kit, a flat-iron and six versions of the same lipstick cannot manage to carry her own bag. Well Shame on you, lady. Shame on you!The debate on whether or not a man should carry his own bag has been ample fodder since the dawning of the metrosexual age. Imagine the horror...CONTINUE READING HERE >>
Hear this: Band of Horses
Seattle seems to be producing quite a spread of special musicians. You may recall a rather famous off-spring from Seattle, Kurt Cobain. Depending on your age, I suppose. Recently I was introduced to a new group and they go by the name BAND OF HORSES. I'm a big Bon Iver fan and although this sound is slightly more commercial it still has the same ethos. Go have a listen to 'Older' and 'Factory'! The latter of which reminds me of the movie 'Almost Famous'.Below is one of their more recognizable songs entitled 'THE FUNERAL' which appeared on the 'One Tree Hill' soundtrack.
Corthay - Bottier à Paris
The night Bafana Bafana played Mexico I ran off into the vibrant, busy city that once was Cape Town and attended a Trunk Show in the Cape Grace Hotel Bar 'Bascule lounge'. With only half an hour before the game I entered the bar with a strategy but was suddenly distracted by a long selection of shoes. And not just shoes, but Bespoke Parisian shoes by Pierre Corthay. The green wonders are my favorite and retailed for more than R10 000 but what's money, really? At the end of the day, no matter your current budgetary concerns, quality should always be important. If not... rather go without!
Totally Wired with Sunglass Hut
The event was a stylish soiree where Cape Town’s media and invited guests were entertained by comedian Nik Rabinowitz before Andrew Koch from Claremart Auctioneers got the bidding going. The pieces, each inspired by elements unique to South Africa, fetched between R1000 and R4000 with TOTALLY VUVUZELA, designed by Nicki Dzrewicki and crafted by Streetwires, being sold for R5500. Fellow Blogger Robyn Cooke and I attended the fun auction at the Misael Gallery in Cape Town a couple Wednesdays ago and it was certainly a lot of fun. The Auction proved rather positive and managed to get some good money for a great cause!
Dolce and Gabanna - Live Webcast from Milan
At 1pm in Milan today the live webcast for the new Dolce and Gabanna show began. With vocal stylings from Annie Lennox and a row celebrities up-front, including the great Morgan Freeman. The runway was as virginal as the garments being worn by the models; a palette of mostly white, off-whites and beige. Of course Gandy, a Dolce and Gabanna staple was in Milan to join a choir of young Adonis'. The use of roping for belts and the rolling of sleeves is a trend to take note of gentleman!
