Maison Martin Margiela has been designing charity AIDS T-Shirts since 1994. Now 16 years later he has decided to bring it back to Japan, with the text in Japanese. The T-Shirt takes a unique approach to design by revealing only part of the text which encourages the reader to ask about it's meaning:
"THERE IS MORE ACTION TO BE DONE TO FIGHT AIDS THAN TO WEAR THIS T-SHIRT BUT IT’S A GOOD START".
A percentage of sales will be donated to 'AIDES', a French organization dedicated to the fight of the HIV virus while taking of care of patients living with HIV/AIDS. To date 170,000 T-shirts have been sold and contributed over 700,000 euros to 'AIDES'. In addition to the seasonal English version, the Maison has decided to have a yearly edition every time in a different language for the World AIDS day, starting with Japanese.
This limited edition charity AIDS T-shirt will be exclusively available in all Maison Martin Margiela stores. World AIDS Day is December 1.
