BAPTISTE GIABICONI FOR HOGAN BY KARL LAGERFELD

Karl Lagerfeld has designed a capsule SS 11 collection for Hogan. It's a women's collection with only six pieces which consist of a sneaker, a cowboy boot, a clutch bag, a messenger, a trench coat and a jacket. Normally you would find this sort of thing in image form but you know Uncle Karl, why stop there?

Photobucket

In this small video we see actors models Magdalena Frackowiack and Baptiste Giabiconi get into a spat about trust, ride their bicycles around Paris all the while in the middle of a real-life shoot with Karl Lagerfeld. "She has some nerve!" Stellar acting. Take a look below.
For those Baptiste fans you can also catch the latest images taken by Largerfeld once again but somehow don't include clothing. I'm guessing you don't care about that detail...

Movie of the Week

My favorite movie of all time Pride and Prejudice [2005], and I've only seen it 27 times. See below for my favorite scene in the movie:

"Mr. Darcy: Miss Elizabeth. I have struggled in vain and I can bear it no longer. These past months have been a torment. I came to Rosings with the single object of seeing you… I had to see you. I have fought against my better judgment, my family’s expectations, the inferiority of your birth by rank and circumstance. These things I am willing to put aside and ask you to end my agony.

Lizzie: I don’t understand.

Mr. Darcy: I love you. Most ardently. Please do me the honor of accepting my hand.

Lizzie: (after a pause) Sir, I appreciate the struggle you have been through, and I am very sorry to have caused you pain. Believe me, it was unconsciously done.

Mr. Darcy: Is this your reply?

Lizzie: Yes, sir.

Mr. Darcy: Are you… are you laughing at me?

Lizzie: No.

Mr. Darcy: Are you rejecting me?

Lizzie: I’m sure that the feelings which, as you’ve told me have hindered your regard, will help you in overcoming it.

Mr. Darcy: Might I ask why, with so little endeavor at civility, I am thus repulsed?

Lizzie: And I might as well enquire why, with so evident a design of insulting me, you chose to tell me that you liked me against your better judgment.

Mr. Darcy: No, believe me, I…

Lizzie: If I was uncivil, then that is some excuse. But I have other reasons, you know I have.

Mr. Darcy: What reasons?

Lizzie: Do you think anything might tempt me to accept the man who has ruined, perhaps forever, the happiness of a most beloved sister? Do you deny it, Mr. Darcy? That you separated a young couple who loved each other, exposing your friend to the censure of the world for caprice and my sister to its derision for disappointed hopes, involving them both in misery of the acutest kind?

Mr. Darcy: I do not deny it.

Lizzie: How could you do it?

Mr. Darcy: Because I believed your sister indifferent.

Lizzie: Indifferent?

Mr. Darcy: I watched them most carefully and realized his attachment was deeper than hers.

Lizzie: That’s because she’s shy!

Mr. Darcy: Bingley too is modest and was persuaded she didn’t feel strongly.

Lizzie: Because you suggested it!

Mr. Darcy: I did it for his own good!

Lizzie: My sister hardly shows her true feelings to me. (silence) I suppose you suspect that his… his fortune had some bearing…

Mr. Darcy: No, believe me I wouldn’t do your sister the dishonour, though it was suggested…

Lizzie: What was?

Mr. Darcy: (after a pause) It was made perfectly clear an advantageous marriage…

Lizzie: (enraged) Did my sister give that impression?

Mr. Darcy: No, no! No, there was, however, I have to admit, the matter of your family…

Lizzie: Our want of connection? Mr. Bingley didn’t seem to vex himself about that…

Mr. Darcy: No, it was more than that.

Lizzie: How, sir?

Mr. Darcy: It was the lack of propriety shown by your mother, your three younger sisters, and even, on occasion, your father. (thunderclaps are heard, Lizzie is obviously hurt) Forgive me. You and your sister I must exclude from this.

Lizzie: And what about Mr. Wickham?

Mr. Darcy: (moves closer) Mr. Wickham?

Lizzie: What excuse can you give your… your behavior towards him?

Mr. Darcy: You take an eager interest in that gentleman’s affairs.

Lizzie: He told of his misfortunes…

Mr. Darcy: Oh yes, his misfortunes have been very great indeed.

Lizzie: You ruined his chances and then you treat him with sarcasm.

Mr. Darcy: So this is your opinon of me? Thank you for explaining so fully. Perhaps these offences might have been overlooked had not your pride been hurt…

Lizzie: My pride?!

Mr. Darcy: …by my honesty in admitting scruples about our relationship. Could you expect me to rejoice in the inferiority of your circumstances?

Lizzie: And those are the words of a gentleman. From the first moment I met you, your arrogance and conceit, your selfish disdain for the feelings of others made me realize that you were the last man in the world I could ever be prevailed upon to marry.

Mr. Darcy: (leans in, looks at Lizzie for a long time as if about to kiss her) Forgive me, madam, for taking up so much of your time."

LOUIS VUITTON SPRING 2011

For Spring 2011 Louis Vuitton enlisted 'Soul' model Doug Pickett to front their campaign. Shot outdoors, photogtapher Cédric Buchet played at rugged urban-safari chic in mostly understated garments and styling, which actually works well.

MUST SEE: APRICOT BY BEN BRIAND

On a different note I have wanted to share this short film with you all for a while now. While the heat is beating down on Met goers in Cape Town today and you are in-doors, my gift to you is this exquisite ten minute film. It speaks for itself so I don't have to. Enjoy.

FORMICHETTI GETS HIS OWN MUSE

Nicola Formichetti is keeping it in the family. As the newly appointed Creative Director for Thierry Mugler, Formichetti has once again collaborated with Lady GaGa, but this time in song, and not for Gaga herself.

The following video was directed by Mariano Vivanco and features fashions latest muse to get people talking. The immensely talented but not often understood creative called on Rick Genest, a twenty-something model better known as 'Zombie Boy' who he found online. Genest has strong features and keeps in shape but that is the extent of the similarities to his model peers. Why? Because he is covered in tattoos from head to toe. And not just any tattoos. Skeletal, demonic-looking and quite frankly a little scary. Now put the model in the latest offerings (and Formichetti's debut line for Thierry Mugler), run an exclusive previously unknown Lady GaGa track behind it and it's magic.  It may not be traditionally beautiful or artistic but considering that we are slowly running out of original ideas it makes for a breathe of fresh air.

GREGG HAMMOND IS COSMOPOLITANS SEXIEST MAN 2011

Photobucket

It's easy to win the Cosmopolitan Sexiest Man award. You just have to be, you know, tall and ridiculously handsome, and well built, and tanned and... well nevermind.  Taking over from Wynand Olivier who won in 2010 is Fusion model Gregg Hammond. Along with a R10 000 cash prize the winner also walked away with a floating trophy and goodie bags galore.
According to claytonmorar.com Hammond is "currently focussed on his modelling career and appears regularly in print campaigns and commercials, he’s also completing his final year of studies for an LLB. He excels at anything sports-related; he cycles, runs marathons and loves the gym." Obviously.

The event which was held in Johannesburg last night was sponsored by The Oxford and KISS and hosted by Bonang Matheba. If you're want to see who lost to Gregg or if you're just jealous take a look at the other 12 guys in this year’s Cosmopolitan Sexiest SA Men Calendar, or take a look at the February 2011 issue of Cosmopolitan (on sale now) or visit www.cosmopolitan.co.za

Photo Gazing......Natural Hair

My Elliptical Routine

I do 60 minutes, which is about 1000 calories burned. I've recently increased my days from 2 to 3 times a week to 5 days a week. I started back in October with 45 minutes being the highest I would do. I really had to push myself to do 60 minutes a day, since that's how I really lost the weight the first time around. I usually watch Matlock or the news while I'm on the elliptical........it really helps the time move by fast............

ADREJ PEJIC FOR GAULTIER 2011

Photobucket
In a time when using androgyny in fashion could/should be a normal occurrence it is somehow still met with confusion or distaste from some. I told you about Andrej Pejic. I told you about his long blonde hair and feminine features, the various interest from designers. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what anyone thinks, because now Pejic can add 'high-end catwalk model' to his resume. Jean-Paul Gaultier decided to celebrate the model by using him for his new Spring campaign. In addition to this, Gaultier, who is known for his eccentric shows invited Pejic to join the Gaultier crew in the latest showing of his collection. In fur and high-heels. Does this mean similar models will be making appearances in both mens and ladies shows?

THE OLD SPICE GUY IS BACK

Another clever video featuring the 'Old Spice guy'.

NADAL FOR ARMANI JEANS

Photobucket
When I posted the news that Raphael Nadal would replace Christiano Ronaldo as body face of Armani jeans the opinions were varied. Would he make a suitable model for the brand? Is his face as marketable as Beckham and Ronaldo? Apparently so. Here are some of the new images that have been released for both Fox and Nadal's respective campaigns. The images look great but they could have been a little more inventive with posture positioning and theme. No?

I Call This One "Whipped Honey Butter"

I used Shea Butter, Vegetable Glycerin, Aloe Vera Gel, Vitamin E Oil, Tea Tree Oil and Honey as a preservative, Coconut Oil, and Distilled Water. This is my first time using honey, a reader suggested it, so I really wanted to try it. So far, I like it. This batch came out very thick and smooth, I can't wait to start twisting with it and refreshing my puffs!

Me & My Hair Today

Happy Wednesday!

Tightly Coiled, Kinky, Coarse, Thick, 4b, Cottony = My Beautiful Hair!

I wanted to come back and show my true texture in all its glory. I was not satisfied with the first naked hair post I created....so here it is! My hair is soaking wet here, fresh out the shower with no product. I shampooed, deep conditioned, and twisted it. As I approach my one year anniversary soon, I am still learning new things about this hair and how to care for it. I am also falling more in love with my hair as well as its texture.
