My Review:

The cucumber line says it's for color treated and damaged hair, but I don't have color treated or damaged hair, yet I am in love with this conditioner. This product does exactly what it said it would, locking in moisture, detangling my hair with ease, and making my hair softer. As if this wasn't enough, this conditioner has excellent slip, and a pleasant smell, not overbearing at all. For the price, and the all-natural ingredients, I would highly recommend this product for deep conditioning and co-washing.

Be Blessed!

INRTRODUCING... '6' by STIAAN LOUW

In this first look at Stiaan Louw’s sixth and most defining collection, “6”  with it's Middle Eastern, ancient Greek, Indian and Massai influence help to redefine the idea of an African aesthetic. This collection is about blending these different styles. Within the campaign Stiaan has elected four photographers to interpret the four components of the collection however they see it. The model, Eric Bester is the new face of Stiaan Louw and will appear in each component following the release of '6', featuring garments reminiscent of the Mesopotamian ideal.

Red Carpet Round-up

Photobucket
I am seriously coveting this beautiful jacket. One buttoned, Slim two-toned lapel, relaxed white shirt opened to reveal a single piece of jewelry. Fantastic look. Perhaps the only worrying detail is I'm sure he's wearing silver nail polish?
Photobucket
Don't quote me on this, but I would bet money on the fact that Robert is wearing Lanvin. All the usual suspects are there, high-tops, tinted lenses and a three piece suit. I'm a little bored with Susan's look but I suppose it was inevitable that a man outdress his wife at some point.
Photobucket
I like the look of a clean cut man. Anderson Cooper doesn't do flashy or eccentric, which is 100%. Instead he goes with what he knows, and what works, like this great fitting suit!
Photobucket
Ah Mark Ruffalo! At the 54th BFI London Film Festival the actor walked the red carpet in his favorite choice: Neil Barrett. This slightly unstructured blue suit is a great colour for him and I love the creased fabric. This is how couples should walk the red-carpet from now on!
Photobucket
Bearded, deranged and murderous, romantic and scruffy. Anything works for Mr. Cruz Javier Bardem. He's not a fashionisto which makes it all the better that he kept it simple. And he looks healthy and fresh-faced. It's the perfect accessory.

FRIDAY FASHION FACE-OFF feat. HALLE BERRY & JAKE GYLLENHAAL

Photobucket

JAKE GYLLENHAAL
Marco: He has the makings of someone to loathe. You know, charm, good looks, talent and the perfect beard. I should be jealous of him but alas am too busy taking cues from you Robyn, by imagining our bro-dates wherein I am doing something outdoorsy. But before that may I just commend Jake on his effortless and relaxed styling. I actually prefer it sans accessory. Modern fit, great shoes and no fuss. Easy enough to follow, eh boys?
Robyn: Sooooo, Jake and Taylor, eh? Why does that make me feel a teeny tiny bit grubby? So in a week where JAYLOR sightings seem to keep coming, you post a picture of Jake and ask me to comment on his style. Blonde, perchance? Oh, you mean the clothes. Well, he looks jolly nice in his suit. Sleek and simple. I like it.

HALLE BERRY
Robyn: Now this is the cat-woman style we know and love. YSL red silk asymmetric drapery. You absolutely can not fault it. As I said on my blog last week, she is an alien life form, such is her perfection. Done.
Marco: Is it possible that she looks more beautiful now than when she donned this look the first time? I prefer the darker hair too, it's a mature version of her former self without making it look any less sexy. 'Meow' if there ever was a reason to say it. She really is knocking them back these days with her outfits. Gold dress anyone? Yes okay, i'll go see your movie.

Movie of the Week

FATHER OF THE BRIDE (1950)

Justin Timberlake hits all the right fashion notes

Photobucket
Who says you can't be a nerd and look good? I'm really enjoying the premiere shots of Timberlake, Garfield and Eisenberg for their new movie 'The Social Network'. Justin in particular has proven he may know a little something about his fashion endeavors. He has been photographed wearing Collection Premiere de Cartier glasses and a trilby that somehow makes him look bald rather than chic. His ensemble which is made up of a navy two-button peak lapel suit, striped shirt and tie, is all by Simon Spurr.

While Jesse Eisenberg and that other guy look dashing in their suits it's not surprising Garfield and Timberlake stand out. The latter certainly should know what he's doing by now, and it seems the singer turned producer turned actor turned spokesmodel turned director turned fashion designer may finally have found himself a comfortable home in fashion. He certainly is trying hard enough to make us notice. Prior to this I often felt his braver attempts were contrived. Not so anymore.

When Steve interviewed Ryan

Photobucket
With stellar acting chops and a long list of successful movies, you would be forgiven to assume that Ryan Gosling would be recognized on the street. But in a new interview by Steve Carell, for Interview magazine, 'The Notebook' actor confessed he is more often confused for Ryan Reynolds.

"I get that a lot. I do think it's because we're both Canadian," he told Interview magazine.
"I can't tell you how many times people go, 'Are you Ryan?' And I go, 'Yeah.' And they say, 'Can I get a picture?' Then they take the picture and realise, in that moment, that I'm not Ryan Reynolds. I can see the disappointment in their faces."

STEVE CARELL: This is so intimate.
RYAN GOSLING: [whispers] Steve.
CARELL: [whispers] Ryan.
GOSLING: Thanks so much for doing this. You know, I don’t know if I’ve ever actually felt compelled to tell the truth in an interview. But now that it’s you doing the interviewing, I feel like I can’t make stuff up, because you’re a truth-seeker.
CARELL: I would actually like to begin this by saying that I want you to lie to me. If you feel uncomfortable at any point during this interview, please make up a story that has no bearing on your actual life. That’s what I do, and it seems to work well.

Jak&Jil do what they do best and snap up really well dressed people on the street, like Nickelson Wooster! If you didn't read the exclusive interview I did with him not so long ago, you can take a look here now. I really love this camo blazer and tie combo. And, it appears, that backpacks are making their way in again?

Rick Day photographs our boys Bryce and Cobus

If you Google 'Rick Day' you may be surprised to find images of anything but Rick Day himself. The highly sought after photographer has quite the catalog of good-looking young men. It wasn't long before he decided to add a couple of our very own boys to his list of near naked models.

Cobus Jonker who is currently modeling in New York, was recently shot by Rick Day sporting super tiny underwear against a black backdrop.

5 Myths About Natural Black Hair

Before relaxers became easily accessible, black people straightened their hair through a variety of means, many of which were very harsh and damaging. Although the majority of black women still prefer to wear their hair straightened, there has been a steadily growing movement toward wearing natural hair. However, there remains a lot of misinformation which prevents some people from accepting their hair as it grows from their scalp. They choose to straighten their hair because they still believe these myths about natural hair. What are the real truths?
1. Natural Hair Isn't Versatile
If you think Afros are the only style for natural hair, you're missing out on a ton of unique hairstyles that are beautiful and healthy for your hair and scalp.

Some of the many natural hairstyles you can wear include:
•Two-strand twists
•Bantu knots
•Braids
•Cornrows
•Flat twists
•Coils
•Locs
•Afro puffs
In addition, you can combine these styles to create your own one-of-a-kind hairdos. If your hair is short, that may limit your versatility somewhat, but the longer your hair grows, the more styles you can experiment with and enjoy.
2. Natural Hair Doesn't Grow
Black hair in its natural state has a tendency to shrink up, preventing you from seeing its real length, leading to the popular belief that it doesn't grow long. While everyone has a predetermined hair length that's due to genetics, with proper care, you can grow your hair as long as it is destined to be and you don't need a relaxer or perm to do so! A relaxer straightens your curls so that you can see length more easily, but the chemicals in it do not promote hair growth.

Hair grows an average of 1/2 inch per month, including black hair. Your hair is growing, but you may not be retaining the length due to chemical abuse, dryness, excessive heat styling and a general lack of proper care.

3. Natural Hair Is Strong
Natural hair looks strong, which is why so many people accidentally abuse it with rough treatment. In reality, black hair is fragile and needs to be treated with the gentlest of care in order for it to flourish. Wide tooth combs, natural ingredients and your own fingers are the best tools and products for natural hair.

4. Natural Hair Needs Grease
Many products you'll find in the ethnic hair care section of your local stores are full of ingredients that aren't the best for black hair. Ironic, but true. Petroleum and mineral oil make up a large percentage of black hair products and all they do is clog your scalp and attract dirt to your hair. You do not have to "grease" your scalp for it to be healthy.

A better approach is to apply natural oils directly to your hair, paying special attention to the ends, which tend to be dry.

5. Natural Hair Is Hard to Manage
Natural, textured hair can seem hard to manage if you attempt to treat it like straight hair. If you use the same tools and expect the same results that you would on straightened hair, you're going to be disappointed. However, once you learn to treat natural hair in a way that doesn't try to change it or alter it, it can be as manageable as any other type of hair.

You'll have to use different tools and different methods of styling. Your fingers, a wide tooth comb, natural boar bristle brushes and natural oils are all good ways to treat black hair. If you're used to dealing with straightened hair, learning new routines and techniques that work with your natural texture instead of against it will yield the best results.

In October, when skies are bluer and the air is crisp with Fall’s first touch, the enthusiastic crowds, larger than ever, once again flow through the front entrance into our beautiful fair grounds to enjoy the spectacle of the Washington Parish Free Fair.
Since its humble beginning in 1911 in a local livery stable, this county/parish fair has steadily grown bigger and better each successive year. Today, based upon attendance records, it is believed to be the largest county/parish free fair in the USA. It is the second oldest Parish Fair in Louisiana.

It is a family fair. They come from all over the country to enjoy the wholesome virtues characterized by Wiley Wit and imagination cemented with a strong enthusiasm, cooperation and genuine concern for the cultural, educational and economic advancement of the parish.

They come to enjoy the excellent exhibits of cut flowers, homemaking, livestock and agricultural products. Then there is Old McDonald’s Farm, and the activities that never seem to cease on the stage. They come to experience the magic of the Midway and the excitement of the PRO Rodeo, and even to just sit a spell under one of the tall pine trees and enjoy the good food.

In addition to all these attractions there is the Authentic Historical Pioneer Village, the Mile Branch Settlement. Here the visitor will be heartily welcomed by the many costumed hosts and experience a trip into our past as he visits the various log cabins and buildings filled with antiques and hospitality. One will feel free to sit a while on one of the broad porches or tap ones feet to the music.

It’s our opportunity to experience many pioneer activities typical of the Louisiana piney woods in the 1800’s. It is a visit one will not soon forget.

This fair is organized, designed and produced by hundreds of local volunteers who have given freely of their time and talents for generations. At a glance one wonders what makes this fair so special or different from the hundreds of other fairs throughout our land. This intangible quality, recognized by all, yet curiously unexplained, has given our fair its national reputation. The indisputable fact that this county/parish fair is different and is truly special is the reason our visitors come back year after year.

It is an experience one will not want to miss.
